UPSIDE DOWN
UPSIDE DOWN 👣
A leopardess scrambles down a tree in seconds, taking her prey to safety elsewhere.
With the hyena briefly gone, the leopardess moved quickly. Holding her kill tightly, she slipped cautiously down the trunk before making her leap. As we watched, we could see the hyena returning, but in a flash, she had made it the twenty or so meters to another, much larger tree. It was so quick, yet very calculated.
The intelligence for her to consider her timing, distance, and approach was impressive. The pressure of the closing in of other predators we could not hear or see, but which she seemed to, had forced her to take a course of action that would leave her safer elsewhere.
