DISCUSS AN OPPORTUNITY

WHEN THIS SERVICE HELPS

Find Your Next Opportunity

You may want to reach new customers, explore a different market or find people to work with. Perhaps you already see an opportunity but need help deciding whether to pursue it and how to begin. I start by understanding your business, what you want to achieve and the time and resources you have available.

From there, I help you research opportunities, identify potential customers or partners and prepare an approach. My involvement can also include making contact, joining discussions and following up as relationships develop. We agree where my help would be useful, then work through the practical steps together.

How I Can Help

We can focus on one opportunity or work together over time. These are the main areas where I can help.

01

Identify Opportunities

We look at where your business could grow and which opportunities are worth exploring. I research relevant markets, customers and potential partners, then help you assess the fit with what you offer, your resources and what you want to achieve.

02

Make Connections

I help you identify the right people and prepare a clear, relevant introduction. Where agreed, I make contact and join initial discussions. We use these conversations to understand what others need, explain your offer and explore whether there is mutual interest.

03

Develop Relationships

I help you keep promising conversations moving through follow-up, further meetings and agreed actions. Together, we clarify what each party could contribute and what needs to happen next. We review progress and decide where continued effort is likely to be worthwhile.

Experience Behind the Work

Business Leadership

As CEO of a language-services company, I helped grow a London-focused operation into an international business, with revenue increasing tenfold during my tenure. That experience taught me how to develop services, reach new markets and build lasting customer relationships, while making the everyday decisions needed to turn promising ideas into a viable business.

International Consultancy

Through my own consultancy, I developed international business connections, skills-sharing initiatives and management education projects. I also helped clients improve their positioning, websites and business messages. Working across different industries and countries taught me to understand what people needed, explain the value of an offer and find practical ways for working together.

Commercial Experience

As Commercial Representative for St Helena, I introduced investment projects and business opportunities to potential partners. I arranged meetings and helped people explore where their interests connected with the island’s development. The work taught me to assess opportunities from both sides, build trust and maintain relationships through continuing discussion and follow-up.

WORKING TOGETHER

A Clear Basis for Working Together

We begin with a conversation about your business, what you want to achieve and where you need help. Before starting, we agree what I will do, what you and your team will handle, the timing and the fees.

You may need help with a single opportunity or a period of research, introductions and follow-up. I share findings, keep you informed about conversations and progress, and record the next steps we agree. If you need continuing support, we can arrange a monthly retainer with clear priorities and regular reviews.

I am based in Cape Town and work internationally. My experience includes South Africa, other African markets and business relationships further afield. We discuss how that experience fits your needs and whether local knowledge or specialist support is also required.

Taking the Next Step

Some assignments also involve acting on your behalf, attending meetings or maintaining relationships as your point of contact. Where this would be useful, we agree what I am authorised to do on your behalf, how I report to you and which decisions remain with you. You can read more about this support under Commercial Representation & Liaison.

If you first need to explain your business or offer more clearly, a Positioning & Message Review can help. A Creative Strategy Plan takes this further, connecting your story and messages with how you present your business through your website and other materials.

Discuss an Opportunity

Tell me about your business and what you would like to explore. You may already have an opportunity in mind or be considering where to go next. We can talk through it and see where my involvement would be useful.
