SASEKA

SASEKA 👣

The leopard turns to gaze to me, after dropping its quarry to rest for a moment.

Saseka means "the beautiful one".

Encountering this beauty was an incredible moment. It occurred when moving along one of the many veld tracks on a balmy early evening. We went deeper into the bush as the sun set and darkness started to take over to check out a nearby rocky outcrop. As we jilted from one side to another along the rough terrain, we saw it. The leopard had just taken down an antelope and was dragging the kill deeper into the bush.

We shifted directions very slowly and, keeping our distance, followed it through the pressing tall grass. The antelope was almost the same size, yet the leopard pulled and lifted it without hesitation towards a large tree that it had eyed earlier. Then it stopped, took a moment to sense the air for any danger, and, gazing around for the next move, looked at me. It was at this moment that I took this shot.

RAW AFRICA COLLECTION

Welcome to Africa - the wise, the restless, the life giving.

This soulful land of dreamers gives rise to the underbelly of a beautiful gentle beat that is only heard by those who listen for it. This photographic journey explores, profiles and captures what I hope is the heart and soul of Africa's true wilderness kingdom. From its deep bush to its dry savannah and desert, Africa remains a place where life is represented by timeless vistas that are distilled into moments to treasure.
