REFLECTIONS

In the hubris of a soft morning pink mist, a rippled surface reflects a pair of flamingoes moving in opposing directions.

Amidst the calls of seagulls and the distant crescendo of waves approaching high tide, the flamingoes draw nearer to the water's edge. The rising tide lifts the water level, inviting them closer. With watchful eyes, they glide past each other repeatedly. Their elegant bills occasionally dip beneath the surface, seeking hidden treasures of shrimp below. A passing cormorant briefly interrupts their rhythm, soaring by before disappearing beneath the water's surface further on. A few moments later they resume their hunt, continuing their journey further along the shoreside, only their reflections leaving traces of their movement behind.

It was the start of a beautiful day indeed for me. Having arrived at the lagoon edge I anticipated a more cloudy scenario as the thick waves of mist rolled by. For photographers, mist is a wonderful dimension where its creative edge helps to craft more nuanced shapes and forms for the final frame. Yet it can also be challenging in terms of its light. These conditions can quickly change, so shooting in the intermittent stage between misty and sunny states is a sweet time for me, especially when looking for these kind of shots. Its all about learning how to work with light, yet not losing the essence of the moment and story of your subject. The position and reflections of this lovely pair happened to come together from where I stood as the mist broke leaving me with this particular capture.

Feathered Friends Collection

Welcome to our feathered friends, with their flights of fancy, twitchers' delight, and the lightest touch.

Ever-present in our lives, birds fill the skies, settle in tree branches, and thrive on the ground. Their movements fill us with delight and awe; their silence is broken by delightful songs or anxious craws. This collection celebrates these moments in time with our feathered friends.
