She rounded the path, her eyes catching sight of her pride up ahead.

Landzela means “follow” in Tsonga.

For days, the lions had been tirelessly on the hunt. They were hungry but were now resting in the shadows of some acacia trees, hiding from the relentless African heat. She had returned from her scouting for possible prey, behind her sister, and in following the path ahead, had returned to her family, a powerful pride known for their unmatched strength when taking down large prey. Reaching her pride, she nosed the male, signaling her scent and her place of belonging in the pride. While some of her sisters looked on, she settled quietly under one of the acacia trees, her nose scenting the air briefly of the nearby buffalo she had discovered. But there was time - lots of it - before sunset, when the hunt would finally begin.

As dusk settled, the distant echoes of the pride's hunt resonated throughout their domain. They had successfully taken down a buffalo, marking their triumph with resounding roars that reverberated through the land. It is only in such moments that one can ponder the extensive legacy of their African predecessors, existing in a world that feels almost inconceivable to us as humans today. Throughout that night, the untamed symphony of Africa's raw sounds echoed late into the night, leaving a reminder that all was well for pride as they feasted on their long-awaited meal.
