BIG THUNDER 👣

A thundering wave rolls forward towards a paddling surfer ready for the ride of their life.

A repost of one of my favourites. Taken some time ago when filming along the coast, this shot always reminds me of that moment between wishing, fear, and timing. There is something about the sea and this kind of moment. It sets the scene for a combination of exhilaration, fear, and focus. We all get it in our own ways, but this catch was interesting, to say the least. The bounding wave curled up immediately after this capture, allowing the surfer a few good seconds to turn and catch one of the most beautiful waves I have seen when shooting like this. For me, this lifts one's spirits and should bring some sense of accomplishment to the rider of the day!
