RIVER SOLACE
RIVER SOLACE 👣
An ibis swoops out of the early morning rolling mist as river activity begins.
Out of the silent mist, an ibis stretches its wings proudly as it prepares to land on the opposite bank. A manned boat nearby reflects movement and the presence of people. The jutting canoe turns, allowing it to sail down the river. Just gentle sounds intermittently broken by a squawk of a bird disturbed from its resting place on occasion let us know where the boat ventured as it sailed further away back into the grey mist of the morning.
The soft gurgling of the passing river left me awed at how one can capture a scene out of nothing suddenly in mist. Early morning presented this opportunity at the nearby river, where I had captured other bird scenes. Straight out of the camera, the photos were just incredible. The shadows and surreal calmness these moments bring can be so inspiring. I don't usually go for soft compositions, but this time I really liked this result. It reminded me of my dad back in the 1970s waiting for mists like this - sometimes for weeks - and then going to habours and fishing scenes in the old days to get shots of similar themes.
ROLLING VISTAS COLLECTION
Welcome to Terra Firma, a place we've inhabited since life began. A place we do not often see for its sheer magnitude and beauty, a place of enormous history and a billion stories to be told and shared.
There is tremendous beauty here for us to see too. We just have to find it, take a moment, and realize it is all around us. We explore the hills, mountains, and crazy landscapes all around us. From far and distant horizons and glorious sunsets to Mother Earth’s own expressions above, ahead, or below us through its vast continents and rolling lands.
