He took a sidestep, catching the sudden movement nearby in the bushes.
Alert to the possible danger or opportunity, he set off to join others who were forming a pack as they loped into the nearby vegetation. It wasn’t a minute after we saw it. A small antelope had strayed too close and panicked, running straight into the open grass ahead of us as the pack closed in very quickly.
The capture was quick, as the wilddogs nipped its hooves, tripping it in its last moments before the feast began. As cruel and sad as this is, it's nature. In real life, feast or famine reigns supreme. The opportunity to eat comes and goes as the seasons do. These moments just happen, as we've seen unexpected scenes like this before. Out of the blue, the turns and twists take place not only with prey but with predators as well. The battles of the wild both fascinate and leave a deep impression of the challenges of life in plain sight.
