TO WHO 👣

Yellowish eyes bore back as the owlet turns to observe the observer.

Late in the afternoon, as the sun set across the estate's buildings and vineyards, an owlet fluttered down silently onto the pavement, an area that had only recently been crisscrossed by people. The eerie silence wrapped around the buildings in a state of stillness, leaving any movement or sound apparent. My quiet steps above the balconies of the building above sounded like distant thuds, I'm sure, to this beautiful creature.

As I leaned over the edge, camera and lens at the ready, she turned and simply stared back at me from her place on the ground. The intensity of her stare stilled my racing mind as we continued looking at each other for what felt like an eternity. Finally, I came to my senses, remembering my purpose, and snapped this photo of the scene in front, my click echoing a sudden break in our silence as she flew away.

There are a lot of owl photos out there, and some of them are truly amazing. This portrait shot, however, drew me in afterwards for some reason. I keep staring at her almost macabrely powerful eyes, which seem to possess her body and the ground in such a mercurial way. It's a shot I just like, even though I'm not sure why.

FEATHERED FRIENDS COLLECTION

Welcome to our feathered friends, with their flights of fancy, twitchers' delight, and the lightest touch.

Ever-present in our lives, birds fill the skies, settle in tree branches, and thrive on the ground. Their movements fill us with delight and awe, their silence broken by delightful songs or anxious craws. This collection celebrates these moments in time with our feathered friends.
