Step Up
A flamingo gracefully traverses the lagoon with a pit-pat sound, about to take off.
The crisp, wispy air dances alongside a rolling mist at the lagoon's edge, while gulls explore the muddy banks in search of tidbits. Their calls resonate across the water, adding to the bustling atmosphere of marine life here in the lagoon. Earlier, a group of flamingos arrived, selecting a shallow water pool as their feeding ground for algae and shrimp - a favourite meal. However, as the high tide encroached, the embankments deepened, prompting the flamingos to relocate.
In a harmonious sequence, the flamingos aligned, preparing for flight to a different locale. Stepping into the water, they gradually accelerated, wings outstretched, creating the illusion of a dance on the water. Their rhythmic steps, reminiscent of pitter-pattering feet taking giant strides, continued until they achieved the momentum needed to ascend into full flight.
The allure of flight has long captivated me. The perspective from above, revealing a broader view beyond our usual ground-level perception, draws me to nature's aviators - birds. My interest in photography stems from capturing the unique perspectives that few witness from the ground. Photographing from above provides a distinctive joy, offering opportunities to document life forms, especially the wonders of nature, in a captivating manner. Observing the flamingo gracefully move, leaving its imprints behind as it flapped its wings, allowed me to escape the daily noise and challenges of life. In those moments, I found a sense of balance and a connection with the present, reminding me of the importance of being in the moment. Capturing this and similar images that morning was a truly meaningful experience for me.
