The Bouy

A young swimmer stares at the infinite horizon, marking a distant bouy.

He stood there for what seemed like an eternity. His gear ready, and his mind quiet. We were at the local fishing harbour, and the boats laden with fish had all returned. As a local, he knew the rhythm of the sea and the daily launch and return of the colourful boats.

As the distant clouds rolled in, creating a distant thunder that hinted at a brewing drama in the sky, the boy's focus turned to his destination. Time seemed to slow as he inched forward, the water lapping at his knees. The vibrant harbour now stood in silence, the only movement being the gentle waves rolling in and onto the ground beneath him.

With a final deep breath, the boy took the plunge into the cool embrace of the sea. The splash echoed through the empty harbour, breaking the stillness that had settled over the water. His journey commenced, with the swimmer skilfully navigating through the rolling waves toward a distant buoy that bobbed in the fading sunlight.

In that moment, the photographer in me sought to capture the essence of this simple yet profound scene. The composition aimed to balance the elements of earth and sky, capturing a neutral tone with character. The frame froze the harbor's emptiness, save for the lone swimmer, offering a snapshot of the serenity found when the earth almost touches the sky.

The result was a photograph that encapsulated the magic of a local fishing harbor at dusk, stripped of its usual hustle and bustle. In a world emptied of people, the boy's solitary swim became a celebration of the uncomplicated joy found in embracing the sea.

Wild Shores Collection

Welcome to our wild shores, where the two worlds of turning ocean tides meet and dance with rocky, tumbling coasts and serene sandy shorelines. This is our place to taste the salty air that brings so much oxygen to our joy.

We explore the ever-present energy of the sea as it welcomes those who ride its tumbling waves, push through placid moments, and absorb its vast expanse. The sea, an ocean of the infinite, provides Mother Nature's oceanic forces to live in and find ourselves. We delight in its beauty, fly with its waves, and move through its tidal zones to find our moment of infinity.
